At St James', we believe the use of English in all forms is the backbone of the curriculum.

As a lifelong skill, Reading and Writing enables children to fulfil their potential and provides connections to new opportunities and experiences.  

It is, therefore, essential that children are given the tools, support and foundation to build on their early experiences of writing and reading, and gain the ability to comprehend and fully use our language, which will give them access to the whole curriculum.

Therefore English is given a high priority in the school and is taught daily in every class using the guidance from National Curriculum.
